A very successful show

The Exsel Group exhibited at this year's Three Counties Defence & Security Expo, held at the Three Counties Show Ground in Malvern.

The focus this year was to showcase four products under two of the Group companies; Exsel Electronics and Exsel Design & Integration, and the demonstrations of the Cross Domain Security Device, as a mobile land-platform unit, together with The Cube attracted a lot of interest.

James Marment, Director at Exsel Group said “We were delighted to attend the Three Counties Defence & Security Expo 2019. It was very well attended and we were able to forge relationships with new companies, discovering exciting new business opportunities, as well as catch up with long-standing existing clients. Exhibiting at the show this year meant we could stand out from the crowd and show off our brand and our products successfully and we are looking forward to exhibiting again next year.”

It was good to see the show go from strength to strength and the Exsel Group stand was busy all day long. We look forward to an even bigger event next year.

Exsel Group is exhibiting at Three Counties Defence & Security Expo 2019

This year Exsel Group is delighted that two of Exsel Group’s companies; Exsel Electronics and Exsel Design & Integration will be sharing a stand to show off some of their innovation, capabilities and products.

Exsel Electronics designs and produces fully engineered, documented and supportable electronic defence systems to meet customers' project-specific requirements and they will be demonstrating how it is possible to combine ECM, HUMS, GVA and CDSD specifically for the benefit of land based platforms.

Keith Hughes, Director at Exsel Electronics, says “We are really excited to be attending 3CDSE 2019. We are looking forward to showcasing our own innovation as well as seeing the great ideas coming out of other companies. It’s certainly one of the highlights of our year and we are planning on speaking to a lot of people!”

Exsel Design & Integration will be taking along an example of The Cube; a generic packing system and common infrastructure of power generation, distribution and connectivity that allows any product set to be integrated and supported. System equipment packaged in the Cube is capable of operating as a standalone self-contained entity or alternatively as part of a larger deployment system. The Cube is modular in construction and offers maximum flexibility and versatility and can be used for optical/radar sensing, water purification, medical emergency & disaster relief, communications post or remote weapon station.

Mike Moloney, Director at Exsel Design & Integration says “3CDSE is very good for us in many ways, not least because it is a great advertisement for defence engineering companies in the Midlands and it gives us the opportunity to get close and spend valuable time with existing and new customers.

Both companies will be at the show on the 17th July 2019 and can be found at stand #68. Anyone interested in meeting with Keith, Mike or one of their team can contact them on enquiries@exsel-group.com

Exsel Design & Integration Joins JOSCAR Defence Industry Community

Exsel Design & Integration Limited, part of the Exsel Group, is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed and passed the registration process to join the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register (JOSCAR) as operated by the Hellios platform.

JOSCAR is a ‘single source of truth’ accreditation system covering the aerospace, defence and security sectors and has been adopted by the Ministry of Defence together with some of its key strategic partners. In collaboration with all users, operators can hold their up-to-date and validated supplier information, accreditations and compliance in one place. This supplier data is then available to all participating buying organisations, thereby reducing costly and time-consuming duplication of effort both for the seller and buyer.

Mike Moloney, a Director at Exsel Design & Integration Limited, stated: “We are delighted to have achieved this registration which allows us to continue to support our sponsors and broader customer base. It re-emphasizes our credibility within the Defence sector, makes our services more readily accessible, and permits us to work more efficiently without having to spend valuable resources on duplicating information.”

Exsel Design & Integration

Exsel Design & Integration’s precision engineering capabilities include the innovative design and manufacture, certification and installation of electromechanical, electronic and communication systems into mobile platforms and container-based solutions for rapid deployment and severe environment applications; including Vehicle Engineering, Equipment Ruggedisation, Build to Print, Manufacture and Fabricate and Specialist Container Systems.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

Exsel Group provides engineering solutions, technology systems and support services to Defence and Industry where reliability, safety and protection are paramount.

The Covenant was co-signed by Major General Ben Bathurst, General Officer Commanding London District, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

Exsel Group also financially supports The Explora Foundation, which was established in 2011, to provide academic scholarship support to the dependents of members of the UK Armed Forces and Security Services who have lost their lives, become seriously injured or permanently disabled in the service of their country. The Foundation aims to develop and extend the knowledge and practice of physical protection to reduce the risks to those in government service in the future as well.

One recipient of an Explora Foundation scholarship, who attended the event, is Captain Dave Henson, ex-Royal Engineers. Dave is currently studying for a PhD in Bioengineering at the Imperial College London. Dave stated “it is fantastic to see the values and standards of our Armed Forces echoed and respected in industry through this public signing of the covenant; a public recognition of the inherent transferable skills and wealth of knowledge held in the personnel of our military.”

Exsel Electronics Selected For Secure Data Sharing Project

Exsel Electronics has been selected to lead the next phase of development for DSTL’s IBSA (“Information Based Security Architecture”) project under the C4ISR Secure Information Infrastructure and Services (CSIIS) Contract managed by QinetiQ. This is part of a collaborative project, led by SA Group Ltd., in which Helyx SIS Ltd. leads the provision of use cases and requirements, Roke Manor Research Ltd. leads a market survey of relevant products and development programmes from elsewhere, and Exsel leads the systems engineering design work. Thales, Nexor and L3-TRL are also involved in supporting these activities.

The focus of this work is to provide DSTL with a design for an IBSA test bed, which will provide a foundation for assessment and demonstration of the technology as a basis for future information dissemination in the Defence community. Exsel will be contributing its specific expertise in security-focused Systems Engineering to design the test bed, taking full account of the inputs from the other partners, and produce a full specification. This will subsequently serve as the starting point for a future project phase in which the test bed itself shall be developed and delivered.
